Jordan Parkinson secures acquittal for Vietnamese man charged with producing cannabis

July 9, 2026

The defendant successfully ran the modern slavery defence, after a negative NRM decision was received.

Jordan successfully argued that the s45 defence was satisfied and the Crown were not able to disprove the statutory defence. The defence case set out how the defendant was illegally trafficked into the country and was subjected to repeated violence and threats within the property and as such he was compelled to produce the cannabis.

The jury returned with a unanimous not guilty verdict and the defendant upheld his good character. He now has leave to remain in the UK.
