Public Access

Historically, the Bar was a referral profession, meaning we could only accept instructions from a professional client such as a solicitor.  The system was similar to the way a consultant doctor sees a patient on a GP’s referral. However, a change of the legal services market means that barrister can now accept instructions from clients directly under the Public Access Scheme.

Our barristers can provide you with expert legal advice, help you to draft correspondence, help to draft statements from litigants and witnesses, advise you on suitable experts and draft instructions to expert witnesses, offer you advice on the next steps to be taken in proceedings and represent you in court and tribunals.

We cannot issue court documents on your behalf, contact witnesses or collect and investigate evidence, instruct an expert witness on your behalf, handle your money or correspond with the other side on your behalf.

We understand how important it is for our clients to understand the potential cost involved when instructing a barrister. Chambers provide a transparent fee structure that will always be agreed in advance, and will be set out in our client care letter which will be agreed and signed before any work commences. These will either be on a fixed fee basis or an agreed hourly rate. All fees will have VAT added. For further information, including our estimated fees and hourly rates, please click here.

If you have a problem which you think one of our barristers may be able to help you with then please complete the short on-line form below. This will assist our clerks to assess whether your case is suitable for this scheme.

Members of Chambers are self employed and each is regulated by the Bar Standards Board.  You can find our barristers on the BSB website here
