Lorraine is instructed by the defence in all manner of crime including murder, attempted murder, non-fatal violence, drugs, fraud, theft, rape and other serious sexual offences (including those often described as historic). She is well experienced at dealing with vulnerable defendants and witnesses of all ages.

She is meticulous in her preparation and has a calming manner with clients. When required Lorraine is fierce in court.

 

Notable Cases

R v T 2022

Lorraine was instructed by the defence to represent a man recently released from a life sentence charged with trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence. After a number of conferences, the matter was resolved by a plea to affray.

R v H 2021

Lorraine successfully represented a defendant charged with a single historic count of attempted rape involving his niece. The Crown adduced bad character evidence in support of the defendant’s alleged propensity to behave in the way described.

R v W 2021

Lorraine was instructed in the defence of a man accused of serious sexual offences against three teenagers after supplying drugs, offering both payment and the opportunity to secure work within the pornography industry.

Lorraine was instructed in the defence of a man subsequently convicted after trial of serious sexual offending against three of his nieces.

R v M 2021

Lorraine was instructed to represent a man subsequently convicted after trial of sexual offending against two of his grandchildren, having entered a plea of guilty to sexually assaulting a further grandchild.

R v T 2021

Lorraine successfully represented a man who faced an eight count indictment. He entered pleas of guilty to two matters of sexual activity with a child family member whilst denying counts of rape and a single matter of doing an act tending to pervert the course of justice. After cross-examination of the complainant the Crown offered no further evidence, the defendant was acquitted of the remaining six counts.

R v G 2020

Lorraine successfully represented a man whom faced an eight count indictment alleging rape and other serious sexual allegations involving his step-daughter. The Crown adduced bad character evidence to support the defendant’s alleged interest in familial pornography.

R v P 2019

Lorraine was instructed by the defence to represent one of ten defendants responsible for stealing tens of thousands of pounds from gambling machines throughout the North over a forty-month period.

Lorraine was instructed in the ‘Alnwick love triangle’ case in the defence of a man charged with the attempted murder of his partner, wounding with intent of her partner on the same occasion possession of a bladed article. Press coverage can be found here and her

Lorraine successfully represented a bus driver accused of causing death by careless driving.

R v T 2022

Lorraine was instructed by the defence to represent a man recently released from a life sentence. The defendant was charged with trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence the matter was resolved at trial by a plea of guilty to affray.
