Grieving Darlington mum calls for change in law after son’s death

Assistant Coroner, Crispin Oliver records a narrative verdict over the death of Patrick Schaible who was 21. Crispin is a member of the family team within Chambers who sits as an Assistant Coroner in the County of Durham. Media coverage of the inquest can be found here.

Four new Recorders to be appointed from Dere Street

Chambers is delighted to congratulate Susan Boothroyd, Aisha Wadoodi, Harvey Murray and Angharad Davies on their forthcoming appointments as Recorders on the North Eastern Circuit.  Head of Chambers John Elvidge QC said, “The appointments are thoroughly deserved. It is particularly pleasing that successful candidates have been selected from our civil, criminal and family teams.”

The Dere Street Charitable Trust raises £45,000 in its first year.

R -v- Grannon

Albert Grannon, prosecuted by John Elvidge QC,  who shot dead his six-year-old great-grandson with an unlicensed air rifle has today been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment having pleaded to manslaughter by gross negligence and a firearm offence at an earlier Crown Court hearing.  Media coverage can be found here
