Michael Forrest joins Dere Street’s Criminal Team

The criminal team and all members of Chambers and staff are delighted to welcome Michael. Michael practices exclusively in crime both prosecution and defence and joins Dere Street after relocating to the North East from Hull where he was an extremely popular and successful junior tenant.
Michael was acknowledged as a Rising Star with the Legal 500 2024 ‘Michael is a fearless advocate. He is not afraid to challenge perceived wisdom and bring a fresh and effective perspective to complex issues of fact and law.’
He has already gained significant experience in all levels of criminal work and is a Grade 3 Prosecutor and RASSO panel member.

His established practice with his previous set has seen him instructed in homicide, serious sex offences and drug trafficking amongst others He has also successively appeared before the Criminal Court of Appeal.
