Liam O’Brien Secures Acquittal 

Liam O’Brien was instructed by Amy Lamb of David Gray LLP to represent a 20 year old male accused of committing a series of anal and oral rapes on a younger boy when he (the Accused) was just 10 years old.

This was a complex and sensitive case which involved both the Complainant and the Accused being granted special measures directions to facilitate their participation in proceedings.

After making repeated requests for the disclosure of relevant school records, Mr O’Brien was able to advance a compelling case that, even if the offences had occurred (which was denied), the Accused may have been under the age of criminal responsibility at the relevant time. 

The Accused was acquitted by the jury of all of the offences alleged by the Prosecution.
