Laura Peto secures conviction for man driving with a knife on a public road

After a three-day trial at Newcastle Crown Court, the jury delivered a unanimous guilty verdict in respect of a defendant who was alleged to have been driving late at night with a kitchen knife in his vehicle. He disputed the allegation, claiming that he never had the knife in his car and he instead placed it there before the police searched him. Laura represented the Crown Prosecution Service, and upon conviction the defendant was sentenced to three months’ custody.
