Jillian Newton successfully prosecutes her first crown court jury trial

Criminal specialist pupil, Jillian Newton, has really hit the ground running and in the last week has successfully prosecuted her first crown court jury trial. The case involved three counts of assaults against emergency workers at York Crown Court. Jillian made applications for both joinder of two indictments and then an application to proceed in the defendant’s absence. six witnesses were examined, and the defendant was found guilty of two out of the three counts.

In the same week, Jillian also received a commendation at an official commendation ceremony from the Chief Constable of Merseyside Police for her work on the intelligence and surveillance on the investigation into the murder of Olivia Pratt Korbel in Liverpool.
