Intensive Supervision Court Guide
September 12, 2024
Teesside Crown Court has recently begun trialling a new type of community sentence: the intensive supervision court. The sentence is designed as an alternative to immediate custody for those whose offending is fuelled by drug addiction. The author, Calum McNicholas, represented one of the first defendants to receive this sentence, following a guilty plea to possession of heroin with intent to supply.
Calum has pulled together a practitioner’s guide that will deal with two areas:
Firstly, it will outline the basic requirements for obtaining this type of sentence.
Secondly, it will outline the relevant procedure.
Trialling initiatives, if successful, are usually rolled out to all of the Crown Courts therefore if you would like a copy of this guide then please contact Joanne Brown
