Four members of Dere Street’s criminal team appeared in a high profile murder trial at Newcastle Crown Court involving 10 youth defendants.

Four members of Chambers were instructed on behalf of the defence in the Murder trial after an attack took place, the victim having attended the final night of the Houghton Feast funfair in Houghton-le-Spring on 16 October last year. The high profile trial at Newcastle Crown Court lasted 2 ½ months involving 10 youths and resulted in all Defendants being convicted of murder.

Mr David Lamb QC led Rachael Landin and was instructed by Mr Robin Ford of John Donkin & Co.

Liam O’Brien and Helen Towers of Chambers were both led juniors.

All 10 defendants, now aged between 15 and 18, were sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court today and received life imprisonment with minimum terms of between eight and 17 years.
