Dere Street’s Pupil Deck

We are looking forward to welcoming our 5 new pupils, Samantha Herman, Lydia Gibson, Lidia Beqiraj, Robert White and Amelia Taylor. The pupils will be commencing their pupillages on the 29 of September 2025 and each week, leading up to their start, we shall be introducing each of them individually.

In the spot light this week is Family Specialist Pupil Lidia Beqiraj.

Lidia grew up in the North East before studying her LLB at the University of Essex, where she graduated with First Class Honours and was named on the Dean’s List for academic excellence. As part of her degree, she spent a year abroad in Pennsylvania, USA, where she again achieved Dean’s List recognition while also gaining practical experience at a local law firm, assisting the lead attorney on a variety of claims. Since graduating, Lidia has built valuable experience as a paralegal in family law with firms including Irwin Mitchell, which has confirmed her ambition to specialise in this area of practice. She has also volunteered as an English Language Tutor with Conversation Over Borders, remotely delivered her own TedX Talk and carried out pro bono work through her university’s law clinic. 

Her time in the US introduced her to sports like baseball, and she has since become a casual Boston Red Sox fan. Lidia regularly returns to visit friends made during her year abroad. She is also a keen traveller and has her sights set on South America.

Lidia will undertake her family pupillage under the supervision of Frazer McDermott.
