Criminal Pupil Laura Peto successfully prosecutes prolific shoplifter

Criminal Pupil Laura Peto successfully prosecuted in a sentence last week resulting in a 21 month custodial sentence and Criminal Behaviour Order for a prolific shoplifter. The offender had gone on a spree of offending and has been committed for sentence for five offences: affray, possession of an offensive weapon, burglary, thefts, and criminal damage. The burglary was committed on Christmas Eve when he stole his victims presents and proceeded to unwrap them himself. The CBO will ensure that the offender does not enter Morrisons in Sunderland, where he has carried out multiple thefts. It was called into question the offender’s mental capacity and his fitness to understand court proceedings, as he has a history of mental health problems, but it was decided that the proceedings should go ahead on the day.
