Everyone at Dere Street joins in warmly congratulating our former colleague Susan Boothroyd upon her elevation to the Circuit Bench.
The appointment was announced on the judiciary website on 24th October,
The King has appointed Susan Boothroyd to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable David Lammy MP, and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
The Lady Chief Justice has deployed her to the North Eastern Circuit, based at Teesside Combined Court Centre, with effect from 3 November 2025.
Susan Boothroyd will be known as Her Honour Judge Boothroyd. She was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1990. She was appointed as a Recorder and a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Health, Education and Social Care Chamber, in 2019. She was also appointed as a District Judge in 2025.
