Dere Street’s Pupil Deck
September 15, 2025
We are looking forward to welcoming our 5 new pupils, Samantha Herman, Lydia Gibson, Lidia Beqiraj, Robert White and Amelia Taylor. The pupils will be commencing their pupillages on the 29 of September 2025 and each week, leading up to their start, we shall be introducing each of them individually.
Taking centre stage this week is Lydia Gibson.
Lydia studied Law at the University of Durham before going on to complete her Bar Training Course at the University of Law, Newcastle achieving a Distinction.
During her studies, Lydia volunteered within the Pro Bono Society and was given the role of being an Advocate at the charity Families in Care. Lydia volunteered within this role for three years and in her final year became Project Director of the charity’s law clinic, where she also provided training to new advocates. Lydia gained valuable experience during this time within both public and private family law proceedings.
Lydia went on to further her experience within family law by working in law firms as a Family Legal Secretary and later as a Childcare Paralegal. Lydia provided high level support on complex cases including drafting, meeting with clients and regularly attending Court.
Outside of law, Lydia is a keen athlete and regularly competes within both athletics and triathlon. Within her spare time, she can usually be found spending time with her family, two dogs and three cats.
Lydia is excited to join Chambers and looks forward to starting her pupillage later this month.
Lydia’s pupillage will be under the supervision of Elizabeth Callaghan.
