Jordan Parkinson Successfully Represents Appellant in Durham Crown Court Appeal.

December 17, 2024

Jordan Parkinson, instructed by DJMS, has successfully represented the appellant at Durham Crown Court in an appeal against conviction in which the appellant’s sexual risk order was revoked. The court found that it was not necessary for the making of such an order.

This was the first time Durham Crown Court had heard an appeal against a sexual risk order being granted in the Magistrates Court. The court heard 11 allegations of a sexual nature against the appellant from 2014 to 2023 and found that on the balance of probabilities, only one out of the 11 allegations had taken place in 2017. Subsequently, the court conceded with Miss Parkinson’s submissions that the order was not necessary or proportionate and to place the appellant upon such strict prohibitions would be impeding his right to a private and family life, without a sound justification.
