Hawa Jogi – Pupil

Hawa is a common law pupil under the supervision of Ruth Phillips.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Hawa gained valuable experience as a Senior Paralegal at Kingsley Napley LLP in London, where she worked on inquests, judicial review cases, and high-profile public inquiries, including the COVID-19 Inquiry and the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry. Her role included drafting witness statements for prominent individuals, attending client and counsel conferences, reviewing large volumes of material, and conducting legal research on policy guidance. Hawa also observed and prepared for hearings at the Privy Council, the Court of Appeal, and the Administrative Court.

Alongside her role, Hawa volunteered with Z2K (Zacchaeus 2000 Trust), representing clients in social security appeals before the First-tier Tribunal.

During her studies, Hawa worked as a legal assistant at a law firm in Australia, providing support in family, employment, and clinical negligence cases. She gained experience in expert-led conferences, custody disputes, care arrangements, injunctions, and urgent applications. Hawa has also been actively involved in various pro bono projects with the Citizens Advice Bureau, the University of Liverpool Law Clinic, United Legal Access, and the Brain Charity, for which she was awarded the Chancellor’s Scholarship during her postgraduate education.
